Redstar's Vision

Redclaw gazed up at the mountain, with Firefur at his side. The Shadowclan leader had been killed, and as Shadowclan's deputy, Redclaw was to make the journey to highstones and become a clan leader. "It's a long way up." Redclaw murmured, not sure if Firefur even heard. Redclaw began walk up the mountain. "C'mon Firefur, we don't have all night." He said, though it was actually Redclaw being slow. He quickened his pace, soon bounding up the rocks. Redclaw was worried Starclan would reject him as leader, and he couldn't hide it. After all, he had killed Hawkfire's parents to test his own ability. Redclaw stopped and looked back to see if Firefur was keeping up.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm coming," Firefur yowled back. She climbed up the rocks quickly, catching up to Redclaw. "We should be close by now. I haven't been here since I was an apprentice." As they continued to climb up, Firefur began to see the rocks start to even out. She increased her speed and burst onto the top. Highstones was in the really close now.

Redclaw jumped up a few more rocks to reach the entrance to Highstones. He mewed to Firefur to wait, and then padded through the thin winding tunnel, finally reaching the moonstone. Redclaw slowly touched his nose to the moonstone, and closed his eyes. Nothing happened for a little while, making him fear even more that Starclan would reject him. Redclaw opened his eyes, but instead of seeing the dark cave, he was in the middle of a large group of cats. Redclaw did'nt know very many of them, but he saw the previous Shadowclan leader, Winterstar, and his mentor, Blacktalon. "Where am I?" Redclaw asked them, but no one answered. Suddunly he was at the entrance to Highstones, except looking away from the forest. Redclaw saw mountains on the horizon, and he was going to move toward them, but Redclaw couldn't move. That's when a head poked above the rocks, followed by uncountable more. They swiftly moved to the entrance, right where Redclaw was. None of the foreign cats could see him, but they were all looking at the forest. Apppearing to be the leader, a big black cat stepped forward. "We will destroy the clans one by one. Starting with Riverclan. But for now, let's find a good place to hide." The large group of cats headed west, moving around Windclan territory and ever closer to Riverclan. That's when Redclaw noticed two cats heading to Shadowclan. With a closer look, he realized the cats were Firefur and himself. Then Redclaw was back with Starclan, except all had gone with one cat remaining. He did not recognize the cat, but the expression on the cat's face made it look as if they had known each other all their life. "What you just saw was in the very near future. Protect your clan, for Shadowclan is 2nd on their list. Choose your deputy wisely, Redstar. And remember: The clash of Fire and Ice will save the clan..." The cat vanished, and Redstar was back at the moonstone. He quickly padded through the tunnnel to meet Firefur waiting outside. "We have to go quickly, Firefur. We have to leave now."

Firefur could tell something had happened inside Highstones, because Redstar walked with urgency now, but she knew better than to ask him what had happened as the Warrior code forbid that. Only the clan leaders could know what happened during their ceremony to get their nine lives. Whatever had happened, it was clearly big, and Firefur shivered with anticipation.

Redstar bounded down Highstones as fast as he could when he suddenly stopped and looked back. He couldn't see anything, but knew there was the group of cats where he had just been. Redstar continued on toward the Shadowclan camp, not looking back.

Firefur noticed Redstar stop and look back, and looked back herself but saw nothing. "Maybe he thought he heard something," Firefur thought to herself. She followed Redstar back to ShadowClan camp, keeping an eye out for any other cats.
